Who is the qualifier for and do I have to do it?
The qualifier is for the PST or CPC Championships for those pilots who have never...
1) Had a PST "Pro" card (ever since 2003)
2) Who has never competed in the CPC championships or a regional CPC league (since 2005).
3) International competitors from other tours/leagues who have never competed in the United States.
TRAINING AND QUALIFIER JUMPS WILL COST $
We have arranged it so any National or World level Canopy Piloting champion can clear you for competition at Swoop Week without you having to take the qualifier. So if you have never competed in the PST or CPC before or any other similar events you can get checked off by past champions like Jim Slaton, Jonathan Tagle, Shannon Pilcher, Jason Moledzki, John Zuliani, etc.
What do I have to do to pass the Qualifier?
We will have a speed course set up (see course below) during practice and you just have to get thee out of 5 successful runs! They don't have to be in order. To make a successful run you have to "score" the entry gate and then fly through to the exit gate without touching any airblades or the ground. Its that simple. The judges are on your side and they will make sure your in control and can swoop gates.....period.
What if I travel all the way to Swoop Week and can't compete?
Highly unlikely this will happen! Most everyone that shows up will be able to compete in the CPC or PST Championships and some pilots will get to compete in all the events! If for some reason you are a new pilot and can't pass the qualifier then you can still compete at the USPA Canopy Piloting National Championships as long as you meet the requirements in the Skydiver Competition Manual.
When is the qualifier?
The qualifier will be Aug 24-25th during the practice rounds and will be judged by our chief judge Karine Leblond and her staff.
How much is the qualifier?
$25 paid to the chief judge on location.
